In a surprise twist of political power game ahead of general elections, Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani joined the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) on Sunday.
Lashkari Raisani is the younger brother of former chief minister Balochistan Aslam Raisani. He has also served as the the former Balochistan chief of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
In 2013, he left the PPP and joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The chief of the BNP-M, Akhtar Jan Mengal, welcomed Raisani into the party ranks, saying they will be united in the democratic fight for a prosperous Balochistan.
“I wholeheartedly welcome Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani & 1000s of other’s who joined BNP today. Together we will democratically fight in every way for a prosperous Balochistan. United we stand, divided we fall,” Mengal tweeted.
Famous television journalist Hamid Mir joked on that he had warned Lashkari to be prepared to face fake cases now that he has joined the BNP-M.
“Lashkari Raeesani joined Balochistan National Party. I warned him be ready for fake cases. BNP don’t do power politics they fight for rights,” he wrote on Twitter.
Due to his political and tribal influence, Raisani’s latest political move is likely to make the BNP-M stronger in the upcoming elections.
